If you want a cozy and comforted ambience, here are some points to consider a more intimate space.
* interior design ideas Create spaces through the use of directed light. Lighting from the ceiling will seem to lower it. A reading lamp or down-shaded lamp will cast light only in its relative vicinity. Use incandescent rather than halogen or florescent lamps for a warmer glow. * Choose strong colors for your walls and floor. They will tend to bring them in closer towards one another. * A dark floor with walls of brown or deep red, blue or green tones will help create the feeling of a smaller, cozier space. * Heavy, soft textures add warmth to a space. Use rougher textures for the hard elements in the room; iron instead of chrome, brick instead of glazed tiles. * The use of pattern in a room can also lend a sense of coziness to the space. The subject of mixing patterns in a room will be covered at some future time. * Choose dark finishes and fabrics to create a sense of the piece being larger than it actually is. Heavy textured fabrics and large patterns will add a cozy feeling to a sofa or chair. * Place pieces away from the wall and use tall pieces to divide and define smaller spaces within a room for greater intimacy.
Room corners The corners of our rooms can be decorating assets or just a boring space. With a little imagination you can make the corner space work for you and create a beautiful area in your room.
* The void corner of the room can be fill with natural or artificial tree. * An uplight addition will give a beautiful look. * Pedestals of varied sizes look good in corners. * A table top with a beautiful fabric and a couple of chairs to each side with coordinating fabric on the seats can give a very dramatic look. Add a lamp, your favorite pictures and collectibles for a gorgeous tablescape. * A corner cabinet or hanging cupboard is a handsome solution and adds needed storage and display areas as well.

Modern interior décor can be achieved with sleek, strong lines, and minimalism. Through the use of materials, color, and rich interiors, modern decor is as stylish as you want to make it. The focus in modern decor is in the styling and atmosphere of the spaces. Here are some ways that you can achieve contemporary style in your home.
COUCH/CHAIRS: In modern decor, furniture has strong linear form, and absence of ornamentation. Modern interiors have only the essential pieces of furniture. When choosing couches and chairs, modern styling may include the illusion of “floating” horizontal planes. Bulky, furniture is replaced with sleek and refined materials. The use of leather, micro-fiber, tweed, and tightly woven fabrics makes furniture sophisticated and durable. Consider your space to furnish, and include only enough pieces to fit the function of the space. Modern decor’s appeal is the feeling of airiness, space and light.
TABLES: They will follow the same philosophy from the couches with their strong horizontal lines, and fine use of wood, metals, and glass. Use shiny and reflective touches to bring a strong industrial feel to the modern decor of a room. Ottomans and side tables in smooth linear form coupled with clean shaping make for wonderful accent accessories. Most cocktail tables in modern décor stand lower than traditional one’s to give emphasis to sitting space, and minimalism.
WINDOWS: Light is key in modern décor. Window treatments should be kept light in texture, color, and weight. Heavy blinds, drapery and puffy curtains are too ornamental and ‘heavy’ looking for contemporary styling. Minimalism is achieved more easily when an abundance of light fills the room. If living in a smaller home, use less furniture and this will visually open up the room. Even though light may not be abundant, the use of lighter colors and less furnishings will instantly make windows seem brighter.

A modern interior decoration and design can be a fabulous visual treat. New York-based designer West Chin Architect designed the Fabulous Flat with a modern theme and a bold approach to decorating. This home interior design makes quite a statement. Above is the photo of the living room. Your eyes will probably be immediately drawn to the center where the light fixtures of pretty little glass balls dangle prominently from the ceiling. The eyes are also drawn to the painting, which is also, by itself, quite engaging to look at.
